Calendar Craziness!

So, since I am at a new grade, I have re-done my Clalendar/Morning Meeting stuff.....Again!  I feel like that is the one thing that changes every year (for the better)

I think this is a temporary set up....If you notice the PomPom magnets holding up some of it.  I have 2" numbers that will go on the pink poster (Who's not here?) and when the students come in they will move their number to the Daily Graph (lunch count).  I will use VisAVis Markers to write next to the orange tray and blue tray what we are having for lunch choices.  (We offer two choices, obviously.) I did this last year and it worked great for me to see who was not in yet/absent or who hadn't made their lunch choice.  And it was a quick, easy way to count up the choices.  I will probaby allow my student helper to change the rings on the black poster.  And I plan on having them make the date with tally marks and money then the class will check it.

I will include some more pictures soon!!!

This is my wordwall.....My first attempt almost made me cry!  I wandered around San Angelo looking for that perfect letter to go on my black circles and one day accedentally found these awesomely cute die-cuts at Wal-Mart!  Last colored pack at the store.  So I spend a while aranging just the right colors and gluing in the propper place, then the laminator really jacked them up!!! I was too impatient and didn't let the laminator warm up long enough (even though the ready light was on! TEMPTRESS)  So I tried ironing them to get it to seal, then I ran it through the laminator again.....Needless to say, I threw the first set out!  This is my second attempt....and if you look close a few of the letters didn't seal very good again....I think our school lamiator just doesn't want to work over the summer!!! Now, my FAVORITE thing about a word wall is making it interactive and personal!!! After we put a word up (I use Ticky-Tac), the students can go up to the wall and take the word off and go sit down with it!  They love being able to take the words on and off!!!! I feel like they use the word wall more because they feel like it belongs to them!

Last pic......My NEW CAFE labels!!! I will just staple the strategies ontop of the ribbon!  I AM EXCITED!!!!! You can have it for FREE too!

Lost Crayons and Scissor Cramps

Ok, I must have been really distracted today.  I cut out workstation cards through 2 movies!  I think my hand is about to fall off!

I know my pile doesn't look very big, but MAN it took forever!  Of course it didn't help when I stopped to watch the latest E News on the Rob and Kristen drama and chat about it with my bestie!

BUT let me really get to the posting point.....

Today I fixed up these for my lost and found crayons!

I got the idea from somewhere (Pinterest if I can remember correctly).  I am pretty excited about this!  In the years past I have done a few different things and last year I got tired of kiddos digging and digging just to find an elusive black or red.  This will be much quicker!
Ok, I'm off to bed now!  But first I might ice my "scissor-cutting" hand!

NEW Traffic Light

Ok, so I have told y'all that this is my first year teaching kinder and I have been trying to decide what to do on discipline.  Well, my brain has pretty much been fried since I have spent 85% of my summer AT the school trying to get moved, cleaned up, and organized.  Since my brain cells aren't working up to par, I decided to just go with the basic traffic light system my coworkers use.
That left me with finding one.  I thought about making one with wood and paint and clothes pins, but that involves buying supplies and working.  Then, I thought I could find a poster of one at the teacher store.  Of course, they were sold out.  So I looked into the pocket chart one and I would have had to order it, because they were sold out of it too.  That would have left me $30 dollars out-of-pocket, which was just too much considering I have spent so much already on paint and new class bulletin decor.
This left me with one option...rummage through my sewing supplies.  Of course, God was on my side last night, because I had EXACTLY the right amout of Red, Yellow, and Green felt and iron-on letters (which I randomly had left over from a "paper doll" craft for Jersey).  I made this last night and have to say, I am pretty excited about it!!!

I am going to take pics of the kiddos on the first day, cut out, laminate, and then glue velcro to the back.  I might even use teacher badge sleeves to put the pics in that way I can reuse them if a new student comes in or one moves out!  I am super pumped.
